dc.description.abstract This paper aims to fill a grave lacuna in research literature by exploring the economic role played by Ugandan Asian community in UK and Uganda. The paper traces the remarkable journey of Asians from their mass arrival in East Africa, their economic and social status in the colonial era and post-colonial Uganda, their mass expulsion under the Idi Amin regime and finally, their return under the Yoweri Museveni regime. The paper also explores the economic role played by Ugandan Asians in UK. The paper comes at a time when citizenship is subject to much political debate in UK and Uganda, thus it aims to offer guidance to policy makers on the relationship between migration and economic growth.
